I dont know a ton about transwomen, behind the scenes of American soap operas, or dating in Hollywood; after reading this book I feel like an expert.The main character Desiré Andersen isn't just a black trans character in a transgender love story; you can tell she's a fictionalized version of writer Emmy Morgan. Of special interest are his descriptions of the many technical investigations into the failures of the early V-16 engine, and the theoritical and experimental efforts to understand handling and braking problems during a period when much of the engineering was "seat-of-the-pants". This was a fascinating and enlightening memoir. I read this as a schoolkid in India 30 years back and was entranced by his passionate defense of his clients.
